This certificate establishes a specialized training in medicine, dental sciences or clinical biology in pharmaceutical sciences during minimum one year and maximum two years.
It is meant for doctors, dentists and pharmacists holders of a diploma abroad (outside the European Union) which, under an exemption granted under Article 49ter of the consolidated text of laws on the academic masters grades (exemption for the practice of healing art during the training, without being in posseession of a Belgian diploma) wish to continue or complete a specialized training in a company in their country of origin or in any country outside the European Union.

Access conditions

  • To have a diploma in medicine, dentistry or pharmacy, obtained in a country outside the European Union allowing the holder to exercise in the country of origin.
  • To be currently following specialised training in your country of origin.
  • Depending on the chosen speciality, a basic training in one of the major medical specialities (internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics) may be required.
  • To be in possession of the dispensation to practice the art of healing (article 49ter).
  • To be in possession of a selection certificate signed by the president of the department or the head of department concerned and by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

A file must be submitted, through the Admissions department, to the head of the department relating to the discipline in question for which the certificate was requested, at the latest by 30 April.

Teaching organization

The programme is fixed by the teachers on this programme on the basis of previous teaching.

Duration

The program lasts minimum 1 year and can not exceed 2 academic years (a third year of training may be granted by a unanimous opinion of the competent committee of the academy as an exception, for specific scientific merits or humanitarian reasons). It has a minimum of 6 months of training in a clinical service, and a minimum of 75h of theory courses, seminars and practical exercises during a semester and a final thesis.
Before the beginning of the training and depending on the curriculum vitae of the candidate, the head of the Department set a training plan.
After the training, the University of Liege will award a "certificate of partially specialized training", specifying the specialized discipline concerned (" orientation ") and concerning exclusively the training followed at the University of Liege.

In no case, the University of Liege may grant the academic degree of Advanced Master to students who successfully completed the above training.
