VETE0377-1  Applied mixed models
Duration :  15h Th, 15h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
Master in Statistics : General, Professional focus, 1st yearToute l'année4
Master in Statistics : General, Professional focus, 2nd yearSecond semester3
Holder(s) :  Frédéric Farnir
Language :  French language
Course contents :  This course provides applications of the mixed models methodology. Models with correlations will be studied: animal models (correlation between factors levels), repeated measurements models (correlation between residuals), multi-trait models (correlation between traits). Also, a framework will be provided to extend these models to more general situations (generalized mixed models) such as polychotomous data analyses.
Course objective :  The main goals of this course are:

  • to show numerous examples applying mixed models in practical situations
  • to show more generally how usefull these techniques can be
  • to explore how these models can be extended to more general situations (generalized mixed linear models)
  • to illustrate the models with practical applications
Prerequisites :  Linear models theory
Workshops :  Some datasets will be provided to the students, and software allowing such models will be demonstrated.
Organization :  Three hours lectures will be given, with slides support and solved exercises.

Practical sessions will take 2h30 in front of a computer, with datasets provided to the students.
Written notes :  Reference books, and some written material will be provided to the students.
Assessment :  The evaluation will consist in problems solving on a computer.
