| Course contents : | After an introduction to the issues of cultural management and, more specifically, articulation of the cultural, economic and political fields, this course will set out the human, financial and material resources behind production of living arts. Various organigrammes of small and large theatre and concert institutions will be analysed, their compatibility (two-fold), the fiscal and social status of artists, the logic of public subsidies and motivation for sponsorships. A large part of the course is devoted to the study of real cases with particular focus on evaluation tools (cultural operators and cultural policies). A visit to a performing arts operator will close the course. |

| Course objective : | By the end of the course, students will have a good knowledge of all the resources required for living art production. They should also have a critical vision of the challenges facing performance art operators, the public authorities supporting them and their audiences. |
|
| Prerequisites : | To have regularly attended (as a spectator or as a participant) concerts, theatrical performances or operas is a clear advantage. |
|
| Workshops : | Students are invited to design a living performance, to draft a file requesting financial support to a public agency and request private sector support (sponsorship). |
|
| Written notes : | Lectures will be the subject of a syllabus which will be given to participants digitally. Hard copies of case studies will be distributed during class. |
|
| Assessment : | Oral exam consisting of defending practical work (drafting a project, requesting public and private funds) on the basis of elements studied during class. |
|
