Duration :  30h Th
Credits/ECTS :
Advanced Master in NanotechnologySecond semester3
Holder(s) :  Anne‑Sophie Duwez
Language :  French language
Course contents :  Nanosciences and nanotechnologies are scientific domains which result from evolution and from the synergy of traditional sciences. They include the quantum description of materials and breakthroughs in Life Sciences. They are supported by the progress in information technology, in visualization tools and nanofabrication processes.
An increasing number of our daily use products contain components issued from nanotechnology. This rises important ethical, environmental and health related questions which must be solved prior any broad use of nanotechnology.
The course will present the grounds of nanotechnologies, the present applications and the future prospects and underlines the questions rised by their introduction in our living environment.
Course objective :  Basic understanding of nanotechnologies: methods, applications and limits of use.
Prerequisites :  Basic chemistry and physics, notions of biology
Workshops :  Preparation of a seminar, visit of laboratories
Organization :  10 lessons and the preparation and presentation of a seminar
Written notes :  Reference book
