| Course contents : | The course is an introduction to the analysis and synthesis of nonlinear dynamical systems. The mathematical tools are illustrated on different applications, preferentially in the fields of neurodynamics, nonlinear control, and physics. Further specific illustrations are investigated by the students through individual projects. |
| Course objective : | An increasing number of engineering applications either exploit or have to deal with nonlinear dynamical phenomena. The course presents the basic mathematical tools used in the modelling and analysis of such phenomena. |
| Prerequisites : | SYST002-1 or an equivalent course on linear systems |
| Workshops : | a homework to hand out each week during the semester
+ one final project |
| Organization : | 1st semester. All practical informations regarding the course are available at

| Written notes : | Textbook: 'Chaos, an introduction to dynamical systems', K.T. Alligood, T. D. Sauer, J.A. Yorke, Springer, 2000. |
| Assessment : | 4 individual homeworks during the school year; Individual project + written report + oral presentation for final exam. |
