| Course contents : | The course is intended to bring to the students three complementary and mandatory activities: 1. The active participation to pedagogic activity related to physics experiment sessions with students (mainly) from the 1st Bachelor in Life Science. 2. The achievement of original physics experiments. Students will have to imagine and mount themselves from equipment available in the lab. 3. The achievement of an external observation training session, in Research Institutes, Industries, other Universities, or even secondary schools. |
| Course objective : | The main objective of this course is to make the students discover the multiple facets of Physician's job. This approach should help them to make a choice between the orientations that they will face when entering in Master degree. |
| Prerequisites : | Notions of TeX editor, learned during the second year of Bachelor in Physics, will be very helpful to prepare the required reports. |
| Workshops : | There is no experimental directed activities but students will be facing to an experimental work requiring a personal research |
| Organization : | First four-month period: 1. Participation to the pedagogic activity related to physics experiment sessions (3 x 3 h), optionally extended over the second four-month period. Second four-month period: The external training session will be probably organized during the first full week of the second four-month period.
The related report and oral presentation will be required by the end of this period.
The lab experiments will be prepared along the academic year and presented based on a calendar that will be available at the beginning of the year. |
| Written notes : | No note course is foreseen. However, in the frame of the pedagogic preparation of physics experiment sessions, a copy of the booklet which is distributed to the 1st Bachelor students will be available. |
| Assessment : | The final quotation will be weighted following the rule below: 1. Pedagogic experiment sessions: 30% 2. Lab experiments: 40% 3. External training sessions: 30% In case of non attendance to one of these sessions, without official justification (disease or exceptional circumstances), the final quotation will be entered as ABSENT. If a second exam session is requested, no additional training session is organized. Instead, a rewritting of training or lab report(s) or a new oral presentation report(s) would be organized. Moreover, if the student weakness is related to the pedagogic experiment sessions, an oral exam would consist in presenting (concept explanation) and practically proceeding with a physics experiment. |
