| Course contents : | Descriptive statistics - frequency distributions - graphical presentations - parameters
Probability - definition - properties
Random variables - probability distribution, density - sums and transformations of variables - parameters and properties of parameters - moment and cumulant generating functions
Usual distributions - univariate (discrete and continous) - bivariate normal distributions
Principles of statistical inference - sampling distributions - parameter estimation - hypothesis testing |
 |
| Course objective : | To revise and complete the study of the fundamentals of statistical methods with more advanced topics. After completing the course the student is expected to - summarize data by means of tables, graphs and numerical measures, - master calculation of probability, - understand and utilize the principal properties of the commonly used probability distributions, - understand the theoretical background of statistical inference. |
