| Duration : | 10h Th, 30h Mon. WS |
| Credits/ECTS : |

| Holder(s) : | Gentiane Haesbroeck |
| Language : | French language |
| Course contents : | The seminars are separated into two parts: the first part consists of the attendance to scientific talks given by invited speakers (approximately once a month) who present their own research topics. The second part consist of discussions and presentations made by the students themselves about some chapters of statistical books or some scientific papers. |
| Course objective : | Develop general knowledge of statistics (both theoretical and in practical) and familiarize the students to the difficulties of reading, summarising and presenting scientific literature. |
| Prerequisites : | This course is intended for students who have (or are acquiring) a strong background on statistics. |
| Workshops : | See the field organisation below. |
| Organization : | The course is organised over the two semesters according to a schedule which is distributed in the beginning of the academic year. There are some passive courses (mainly the attendance to the seminars given by external researchers) while others are active since they correspond to the discussion on the topics covered in the scientific literature under consideration. |
| Written notes : | Not relevant. |
| Assessment : | The evaluation system is continuous over the two semesters. Formal presentations will be graded by professors as well as active participation in the discussions. Moreover, attendance to the 'external' seminars is compulsory and any absence will be taken into account. |
