| Course contents : | In this course, three main statistics softwares are taught to the students: R, Statistica and SAS. Moreover, some computational techniques often used in statistics are illustrated: simulations, bootstrap, clustering, cross validation... Also, real life data are discussed and analysed with one of the softwares. |
| Course objective : | Help the students to get familiar with the use of statistical softwares as well as with the application of computational methods. |
| Prerequisites : | This course is aimed for students who have (or are acquiring) a strong background in statistics. |
| Workshops : | See the point organisation below. |
| Organization : | The course runs over the first semester according to a schedule distributed at the beginning of the academic year. All lectures will take place in a computer room where the students will have to work on the computers directly. Some practicals will also be organised. |
| Written notes : | The slides of the courses will be available for the students. |
| Assessment : | The final grade for the course is a weighted mean computed on the grades attributed to several personal projects given to the students as well as on the grade obtained at a practical exam in May-June. |
