Holder(s) :  Jean‑René Cudell
Language :  French language
Course contents :  Field theory course with an emphasis on quantum electrodynamics.
Course objective :  The course has a double purpose: on the one hand, to give a practical knowledge of field theory, so that students can calculate the amplitudes for simple processes; on the other hand, to link field theory with particle and astroparticle physics, and to finish by the definition of charges and masses through renormalisation.
Prerequisites :  Quantum mechanics, relativistic quantum mechanics.
Workshops :  10 h of discussion sections.
Organization :  The course will have of 1h30, and will be given after the courses on relativistic quantum mechanics.
Written notes :  Textbook : M.E. Peskin et D.V. Schroeder, An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory (Addison-Wesley : 1995).
Assessment :  Written exam at the end of the year, followed by a few oral questions.
