| Course contents : | This course contains the following chapters (discussing concepts and current ideas): 1. simple description of quarks and leptons and of their interactions, conservation laws, symmetries; 2. the expanding Universe ( Friedmann equation, cosmic microwave radiation, primordial nucleosynthesis, baryogenesis); 3. dark matter and dark energy; 4. cosmic particles (cosmic rays , gamma sources, neutrinos); 5. particles in the stars (stellar evolution, neutron stars, supernovae, black holes). |
 |
| Course objective : | This is an introduction to particle astrophysics, which deals with the implications of particle physics in astrophysical phenomena. The approach is largely phenomenological and aims at introducing key concepts in particle physics (avoiding formal theoretical developments) and at explaining their connection with several astrophysical and cosmological phenomena. |
