| Course contents : | The course is an introduction to sociology of migration and ethnicity through the study of some of the main texts of the discipline drawn both from American and European sociology. |

| Course objective : | The aim of the course is to provide the students with a theoretical basis as well as with a global picture of the classical American and European literature in the field of sociology of migration and ethnicity. |
 |
| Prerequisites : | A passive and active knowledge of written and spoken English is indispensable.

| Workshops : | The students will be required to write several short papers discussing articles allocated by the teacher.

| Organization : | The course could use 3 pedagogical tools: - Lectures by the teachers - Seminars based on the reading and discussion of texts as well as on presentations made by students -Lectures given by external guests.The course will take place once a week from February 2011 |
