Course contents :  This course will get onto the main thematic of contemporary development policies and programs: the poverty reduction strategies.
Course objective :  This course will introduce the poverty reduction strategies in the so-called "developing countries" trying, on the one hand, to replace these programs in an analysis of the practices and strategies of the "international development complex" actors and, on the other hand, to generate a particular socio-anthropological analysis of these programs.
For this, the course will adopt these following specific objectives:

(1) To bring a conceptual precision on the concept of poverty (in North and in South) compared to close or derived concepts.

(2) To present the poverty reduction strategies in the international development diary (roots, dimensions, actors).

(3) To present the contemporary mechanisms of poverty reduction strategies in the developing countries at work within in the Millennium Development Goals, in particular.

(4) To approach concretely the poverty reduction strategies through different projects from diverse fields of intervention by showing the acuity of these strategies, the role of the various actors, the economic, political and social stakes (particularly in terms of participation of the civil society). Presentations of concrete experiments on various continents.
