- Presentation and illustration of the main trends in research in the field of sociology and social movements (10h).
- Presentation and illustration of contemporary movements and organisations in developing countries linked to the theme of globalisation (10h).
- African mobilisation/protest and discussions around the relevance of dominant (Western) approaches (10h).

| Course objective : |
- General introduction to a specialised area of sociology.
- Knowledge of and critical approach to the main theoretical schools and leading authors.
- Introduction to the problems of globalisation through the social movements and civil organisations relating to it.
- To question the analysis of contemporary movements linked to globalisation through the mobilisation and protests of developing countries.

| Organization : |
- Lectures and regular question and answer sessions (15 minutes at the start of each session).
- Presentations by researchers, assistants or invited experts, either as "recaps" of work already covered or to present specific aspects of the second part of the course devoted to the movements and organisations which refer to globalisation and African case studies.
30 hour course (theory), given in the second term, on Fridays from 12 noon-2.30pm in the Domat lecture hall (B31). |
