Course contents :  The different notions studied are listed above. They will be introduced by a theoretical presentation follow by a discussion based on scientific papers.
- Introduction and theoretical recalls: immune system - tumour development - history of tumour immunology.
- Innate anti-tumoural immunity
- Adaptive anti-tumoural immunity
- Tumour immuno-escape mechanisms: non-recognition of the tumour by the immune system and tumour inhibitory effects on the immune system
- Immunotherapy of tumours: antibodies directed against tumour - cytokines and immune cells - vaccines
Course objective :  - Understand the immune response against tumour development and the immuno-escape mechanisms of cancer cells.
- Understand the mechanisms of action of immunotherapeutic protocols used to fight cancer
Prerequisites :  Basic immunology course
Organization :  The course will be divided in 10 lessons (2 hours), the first 6 will be dedicated to the theory and the last 4 to scientific paper presentation by students. The first lesson will be done jointly with the Vaccine course on basic immunology recalls.
Written notes :  A powerpoint presentation on theoretical notions of will be posted on "My Ulg" before the lesson
Assessment :  Oral exam (50%) scientific paper presentation (40%) and seminar participation (10%)
