| Course contents : | As part of the MC management animal and plant resources in tropical areas, students are confronted with their information requirements and will discover gradually the world of science communication with both theorical and pratical contents. |

| Course objective : | Five main objectives are selected for this teaching:
- make the student able to find its place as a player and as an author in the network of scientific communication;
- make the student able to control some sixty key concepts in information science and documentation, concepts which are mandatory in his documentary practice;
- make the student able to access information independently (choice of topic and terminology, tool selection, use of tools, obtaining primary documents);
- make the student able to adopt the necessary critical and ethic attitude with the multitude of informations sources;
- make the student able to synthesize and organize the information obtained and able to integrate basic rules for writing a bibliography.

| Prerequisites : | A good control in the use of a PC and the Internet tools. |

| Workshops : | Practical exercises allow students to go through all the stages of information search, from the initial question to the answer, across the doumentary question, the information retrieval, obtaining documents ... |
 |
| Organization : | The course is divided into six sessions of 2 hours during which the theoretical lectures alternate with practical exercises. A seventh session is devoted to questions and answers. |

| Written notes : | Several sources, partially redundant, are offered to students:

| Assessment : | The course is assessed by a written exam (open questions and multiple choice). |
