Course contents :
Part a) Radioprotection techniques and complements

Radioprotection matters are essential in the frame of the future work of the physicists who have to deal with ionizing radiation.

This course covers all the aspects of radiation protection field:

- Scientific elements: interaction of the radiations with matter, different types of radiations and doses

- Norms of radiation protection: History, The main principes of the this field, values of risk factors.

- Protection against irradiation and contamination

- Techniques for detection and measurement of radiations

- Regulatory matters (Royal decree of 20/07/2001)

- Essential other points for general overview: shielding calculations, natural irradiation, dose calculation after contamination

- Organisation and specific regulation regarding nuclear medecine, radiotherapy and radiodiagnostic department
Course objective :
Part a) Radioprotection techniques and complements

Answer to legal obligations regarding the formation in radioprotection of the medical physisists.

Give to the students the means to well manage all the practical aspects and constraints linked to radioprotection field.

Give to the students the means to protect them-selves against ionizing radiation but also for the patients.
