| Course contents : | The course follows the conventional structure. Part 1 deals with mechanics; part 2 deals with electricity and magnetism; part 3 is devoted to waves and optics.
Mathematical notions will be presented progressively as they become necessary. Such method is thought to be more stimulating for students, who immediately grasp the use of studied notions. |

| Course objective : | Physics describes the real world. Each topic will be dealt with through concrete observation and experimentation so as to lead students to the theoretical study of specific concepts and notions without ever emphasizing details.
The course deals with the principles of physics and presents scientific methodology within the context of reasoning processes, synthesising abilities and analytic rigour. |

| Prerequisites : | Good mathematical knowledge.
Otherwise, training sessions are scheduled in the early time of the academic year |

| Organization : | - The theoretical course (65 hours) is taught in the Sart Tilman lecture theatres (A300) in the first and second period
- Practical sessions (30 hours) are MANDATORY. Sessions will begin in October. The schedule will be posted on the notice boards in the Institute of Physics (B5b). The practical halls are located in the Institute of Physics (B5b) (Bâtiment des candidatures en physique).
- Physics problems (practical, 20 hours). Students will be divided up into series based on options and alphabetical order.
Series will be the same for practicals and physics, chemistry and biology repetition sessions. Series composition will be posted on the notice boards in the Sart Tilman lecture theatres and Travaux Pratiques (Practical building) as soon as possible. - Exercises and problems will be taken from Giancoli¿s course.
- Remedial formative assessment workshops (20 hours) will be organized in the second term for students who failed the exempting test in January. Sessions will begin in February. The schedule will be posted on the Faculty notice boards in the physics building (Bâtiment des candidatures en physique).

Mathematical booklet is edited by "les Editions de l'ULg" and is available in a combo price with the Kane book.

| Assessment : | - An optional mathematics self-assessment multiple-choice test is organized in the first week. This test aims at making students aware of their levels in mathematics and allowing them to remedy possible gaps through specific remedial classes.
- One COMPULSORY test is organized in January. It deals with topics covered during the first period (theory and problems). In case of success, the related matters is exempted for the 1st exam sessions (only).
- The 1st session exam is organized during the official period (May-June). It covers all the topics, including an oral exam on laboratory sessions. - The 2nd session exam is organized during the official period (Aug-Sept). It covers all the topics, without exemption, including an written exam on laboratory sessions. Theory evaluation is based on multiple-choice test. The success and exemption thresholds are defined by the official rules of the Medecine Faculty |
