Course contents :  Historical and philosophical approach to major aesthetic theories from the 17th to the 19th century. The analysis of theories will be accompanied by a detailed examination of carefully selected works of art chosen from among the most representative of the chronological sequence being studied. Texts and images will be placed in constant dialogue.
Course objective :  To allow students to take account of the development of major concepts of aesthetics such as this occurs from the 17th to the 19th century. To promote the understanding and handling of these concepts while raising students' awareness of the art of the time periods studied.
Prerequisites :  None.
Workshops :  None.
Organization :  Length and time period: 30 hours, 1st quadrimester.
Location and schedule: Lumière room, Mondays from 10h to 12h.
