| Course contents : | After an introduction intended to differentiate various meanings attached to the term « aesthetic » and their features across the main periods of history, the course will consist in a historical and philosophical approach to major aesthetic theories from Antiquity to the Renaissance. The analysis of theories will be accompanied by a detailed examination of carefully selected works of art chosen because they are among the most representative of the periods of time being studied. Texts and images will be placed in a constant dialogue. |
 |
| Course objective : | To allow students to appreciate the value of the development of major concepts in aesthetics such as these appear from Antiquity to the Renaissance. To promote the understanding and the ability to handle these concepts, while raising students' awareness of the art of the periods studied. |
