| Course contents : | This course aims to introduce students to the different facets of the profession of radio journalism, through exercises which are as close as possible to real life conditions. Split into two parts over the two years of the Masters, the course addresses the particularities of radiophonic writing, voice techniques, the basics of radio programme editing and the different formats of radio journalism. At the end of the second Masters, students should be ready to carry out a placement within a professional radio studio. |

| Course objective : | The objectives are above all technical and formal, in so far as the bases of journalistic investigation are already covered in other courses.
Students thus learn:
- the particularities of radiophonic writing
- voice techniques
- the basics of radio programme editing (in particular spoken news)
- the different formats of radio journalism bulletin, news item, in-depth reporting, interview, news flash, headlines, news reporting,
- use of current tools: digital recorders, computer montage. |

| Prerequisites : | None. However, listening regularly to national radio is highly recommended. |
|
| Workshops : | During the second term, students will be called upon to create a large report of six or seven minutes in length, involving different concepts seen during the course. Copying the RTBF programme "Transversales", these reports will be carried out in groups and will introduce students to integrating sound as an entirely separate element from information. The report is also the occasion for students to be introduced to multi-track montage.
Throughout the year, among other things which students will undertake will be a daily spoken news programme, in its entirety (production teams), broadcast on student radio, 48FM. |

| Written notes : | No syllabus: compulsory note taking. |
|
| Assessment : | The exam consists of an oral defence by the student of the two pieces of work carried out. The report and the news piece will each count for half of the final grade. |
