Course contents :  This class includes three parts:

-partim paleozoology: evolution of the main vertebrate groups.

-partim paleobotany

-partim micropaleontology
Course objective :  
  • partim paleozoology

To know the major events in the vertebrate evolution.
  • Partim paleobotany: this part of the class describes the evolution of the different lineages of embryophytes (land plants). Emphasis is placed on the Paleozoic groups.

  • Partim Micropaleontology: this part of the class will include an overview of the main microfossil groups , the modern analytical methods used in micropaleontology, and their applications in paleobiology, paleoecology, paleogeography, paleoclimatology, paleooceanography, astrobiology, biostratigraphy and lithogenesis.
Prerequisites :  Basic knowledge of the morphology, physiology, systematics, ecology and biology of microorganisms, plants and animals
Moreover, a basic knowledge in geology is also requested.

-partim palaeobotany: textbook and powerpoint presentations available online

-partim micropaleontology ; powerpoint presentations online
Assessment :  Written examination on practical works and theory.
