Course contents :  The course will be an introduction to physical, biological and biogeochemical processes within sea ice. We will also address energy and mass transfer between sea ice, the atmosphere and the underlying water column. We will pay attention to the evolution of sea ice cover in the context of climate change and feedbacks. We will overview the role of sea ice in polar oceans.
Course objective :  Explain specific physicals, biological and biogeochemical processes withn sea ice. Give an overview of the significance of sea ice for polar oceans and issues related to global changes.

Organization :  2 hours weekly during the first semester. Schedule to be arranged with students

Assessment :  Depending on the number of students, written exam or small review of litterature
