MECA0028-1  Aeronautical Structures
Duration :  30h Th, 30h Pr
Credits/ECTS :
Master in Aerospatial Engineering, in-depth approach, 2nd yearToute l'année5
Holder(s) :  Ludovic Noels
Language :  French language
Course contents :  The purpose of the lectures is to introduce the design of semi monocoque structures used in aeronautics. Two domains are studied:

  • Structural idealization: Analytical models of wing and fuselage based on thin-walled section beams
  • Numerical model of thin structures: Introduction to finite-element model of plates and shells.
Course objective :  To acquire the methodology required to conduct a preliminary study in the context of aircraft structures.
Prerequisites :  Elementary knowledge in

  • Solid mechanics
  • Finite-element method
Workshops :  Exercises with TA and personal project.
Written notes :  Lectures on WebCt (http://www.webct.ulg.ac.be/webct/logon/247290049001)
Assessment :  Evaluation is based on the realization of a project related to the modeling of a semi monocoque structure and on an examination.
