| Course contents : | Probability theory, Random variables, Distributions of random variables, Distributions of functions of random variables, Sampling to approximate the true world, A gentle introduction to everyday statistics, Statistical inference, Relationships between two variables, Introduction to Information theory. |

| Course objective : | Students will be able to understand present-day applications of Probability and Statistics. This course also provides pointers to more advanced literature so that they will be able to find material to deal with more sophisticated problems in their career. |

| Prerequisites : | Calculus courses given to Bachelors. |
 |
| Workshops : | As the instructors are shared with the Calculus professor, practical sessions are given before the theory sessions. |
 |
| Organization : | 15h of Theory lessons by the Professor (in English) + 15h of Practical works by Instructors (in French) in smaller groups for better follow-up - 1st semester |
