| Course contents : | The Gáyatrí Sávitrí and the Ahuna Variya. The Veda and the Avesta. Epic and classic Sanskrit literature. Asoka's inscriptions. Achaemenid inscriptions. The Avestan texts. Pahlavi literature. |

| Course objective : | To give a comparative and historical glimpse of claasical Indian and pre-Islamic Iranian literatures. |

| Workshops : | Reading scientific papers dealing with classical Indian and pre-Islamic Iranian literatures. |

| Organization : | 45 h spread out over the first semester. Timetable set with the students. Opening session in September announced on Section notice board. The attendance is obligatory. |
