Course contents :  The Gáyatrí Sávitrí and the Ahuna Variya. The Veda and the Avesta. Epic and classic Sanskrit literature. Asoka's inscriptions. Achaemenid inscriptions. The Avestan texts. Pahlavi literature.
Course objective :  To give a comparative and historical glimpse of claasical Indian and pre-Islamic Iranian literatures.
Prerequisites :  Introduction to Sanskrit I [LLOR0050-1]
Workshops :  Reading scientific papers dealing with classical Indian and pre-Islamic Iranian literatures.
Organization :  45 h spread out over the first semester. Timetable set with the students. Opening session in September announced on Section notice board. The attendance is obligatory.
