Course contents :  Study of various topics regarding the way Latin language functions synchronically and changes diachronically during the Antiquity (syntactical functions, problems of word formation, stylistics, etc.), based on scientific papers reading, discussion of grammatical models (a memorization and an active knowledge of those models are required) and cursory reading of a Latin author. The reading, the translation and the grammatical comment of this author are prepared at home, but some aspects of the language of the author will be pointed out during the course, with the help of all the resources of the contemporary philology (databanks, new linguistic frameworks, etc.).

The courses also includes the study of archaic, vulgar or late Latin texts, as well as exercises of grammatical commentary, translation and prose
Course objective :  A methodological reflection on various linguistic and stylistic topics and an initiation to research; an improvement to the translation and prose practice.
Prerequisites :  Bachelor in ancient languages and literatures, classical orientation.
Organization :  Duration : 30h th. + 15h Pr.

Learning methods : lectures, exercises during the course and\or to prepare at home, translations and proses during the course and\or to prepare at home, translation and grammatical commentary of the text mentioned above to prepare at home, personal research on morphological and syntactic questions about this text, reviews (written and oral) of papers.
