Course contents :  Oral and written activities based on texts and articles dealing with psychology. Students will be required to participate actively in the course, which implies that they must have read the texts before coming to class.
Course objective :  Improving the four language skills, namely reading, listening, speaking and writing.

Enhancing students' ability to cope with English texts (understanding, summarizing, reacting to the content).

Allowing students to speak about various topics related to psychology through oral presentations and discussions based on the texts of the coursebook.
Prerequisites :  The level of this course corresponds to the European level B2. Students will thus need to have a good basic knowledge of English and a thorough knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar studied in the first-, second- and third-year courses in the bachelor's degree.
Organization :  Weekly 2-hour class in a group of 25 students from February to May 2011.
Thorough preparation is required so as to enable students to progress regularly.
Written notes :  Coursebook Anglais C au 1er Master en Psychologie, available at Intercopy from February 2011 onwards.
Assessment :  1. Continuous assessment (à dét.):
marked written assignments attendance (at least 75%) and active participation in class
2. Written exam (à dét.):
reading comprehension exercises based on an unseen text, on texts studied in class and on texts from the readings file.
N.B. The marks obtained for work done during the year count for both exam sessions in January and in August.
