| Course contents : | Gaining a basic understanding in interculturalism from the Asian (Chinese) perspective |
 |
| Course objective : | The main objectives of this course is to gain a basic understanding of intercultural issues in the Asian (Chinese) context. These insights serve as necessary tools for effective professional and business dealings with Asians (Chinese) in an ever globalising market place. On the basis of the book 'Myths about doing business with China' basic Western misunderstandings and the guiding concepts, values and practices of Asian (Chinese) culture such as Confucianism, 'guanxi', 'face', etc. will be scrutinised in depth. The specificity of these concepts will be critically assessed and contextualised. Besides the theoretical discussion of these concepts, values and practices, real life case studies and applications will be discussed in order to illustrate and illuminate the theory. |
