| Reinforcement course for general language which is designed to help students follow more easily the legal German course of the first year of bachelor, as well as to prepare students for the course of juridical terminology taught in the 2nd year of bachelor. |

| The main aim of the course is to help students understand general texts on political or legal issues by consolidating and extending their general language understanding, as well as introducing legal vocabulary. The course also focuses on those grammatical features which are necessary for understanding written texts about legal issues. Although the course is clearly oriented towards reading comprehension, it also aims at improving the student's command of legal Germanin speaking, writing and listening. |

| Even if this course aims at consolidating basic language structures, it is not supposed to be a course for complete beginners. Students are expected to have a basic command of German language corresponding to CERL-level "A2". |

This 60-hour course is taught all year round, 2 hours a week.
Students will make sure to prepare at home the texts and exercises as indicated by the teacher on a weekly basis. |

| A compulsory placement test will be held at the beginning of the academic year (on the 21st of September). Students are supposed to have chosen the language they want to integrate into their curriculum before the test, i.e. by the 17th of September. Students who pass the test will be exempt from the course. Those students who don't take the test, cannot be exempt from the course. Native speakers of German will also have to take the placement test.
Continuous assessment of progress
Three tests will help students assess their progress. The three progress tests will be held on the following dates: 17th November, 14th February and 4th April. |

| The written exam, which will take place at the end of the 2nd term, will include a sight text, as well as questions about the grammatical structures and the vocabulary of the texts seen in class.
The oral exam will not only assess the students' listening comprehension and speaking, but also their use of the vocabulary exercised in class, and will bear on the topics discussed during the course. Moreover, students will present a text about a legal issue of their own choice.
Written exam: 15 marks out of 20
Oral exam: 5 marks out of 20 |
