Course contents :  Principles of design and calculation of structures : analysis of constructions, loads, actions, sollicitations, actions of wind, ultimate state, serviceable state. Constructions in steel : design, protective devices, fire and corrosion, mechanical characteristics, elastic and plastic section strenght according to EC3 (compression, traction, simple flexion, composed flexion, biaxial flexion, deviated flexion), phénomena of instability (buckling, ...), calculation of bolted and solded connections. Technology of concrete : properties of concrete's components, composition, proportions. Reinforced concrete : ultimate and serviceability state (according to EC2) : compression, simple and composed flexion, stamping, torsion and buckling, technology and principles of design and construction. Prestressed concrete : principles, aims and technics for pre and post stressing, cables, anchoring, losses of stresses in steel, élastic calculation. Wood structures : mechanical and physical characteristics, connections, "lamellé-collé", calculation and design according to EC4, protection, fire resistance. Masonry constructions : design and rules of calculation.

After completing the course the student is expected to
be able to design and calculate (following the eurocodes) the structures made out of steel, concrete, wood and masonry (buildings, bridges, footbridges, etc).
