| Course contents : | This course hardly deals with the contents of the law. Instead it aims to provide students with relevant background information concerning the process and the purposes of European integration. In this way students are offered the knowledge that is necessary for a good understanding of the law of the European Union and of the European 'Ius Commune' that is presently being recreated. Within this course we offer ELS-students an historic, economic and theoretical view on the process of European integration. The course will mainly focus on the most recent history: the development of the European Union. |

| Course objective : | The objective of this course is to provide students with an introduction to the process of European Integration. |

| Organization : | Teaching method: 7 tutorial group meetings (1 per week over 7 weeks) and lectures |

| Written notes : | The literature will consist out of a vast body of texts. In addition Students are required to buy or borrow the following book:
