Course contents :  Foreign students are expected to master the French language first, as several papers and results of bibliographical research are to be turned in during the academic year and at the end of it. The first part of the course will concentrate on printed and archives sources. The individual and collective research, on a theme changing each year, will focus on the a more thorough use of historical criticism and precision in writing, thus preparing the students to research both on master's level and preparation of their final TFE paper.

Prerequisites :  To have followed course HIST0014-1.

Working knowledge of French, both oral and written.

Reading capacity of English and, possibly, of Dutch.
Workshops :  Oral and / or written reports during the year relating to the central theme.
Organization :  On Thursdays, 16-17.30 (Q 1 and 2).

Assessment :  Students will be evaluated on account of a written report in May.
The note will be based on:

- the quality and accuracy of documentary research

- the ability of interpretating and summarizing

- proficiency in written French
