Course contents :  Overview of artistic productions of the 15th and 16th centuries in Western Europe: important examples, chronological relationships, contextualization. Introduction to the analysis of monuments and works, and to their interpretation from a historical perspective.
Course objective :  To discover the evidence of art in Western Europe in the 15th and 16th centuries. Basic introduction to analytical and interpretative methods of history of art. Learning of specific terminology.
Prerequisites :  None, other than carrying out general studies in history of art and archaeology.

Organization :  Lectures illustrated with overheads, to be completed with reading of Claude MIGNOT and Daniel RABREAU, Temps modernes, XVe-XVIIIe siècles, Paris, Flammarion, 1996, pp. 25-275.
