Course contents :  This is an initiation to the iconographic analysis of art work. It concerns antique as well as christian themes wich are seen following a similar approach.

After a theoretical introduction (definitions, analytical levels), different tools useful for iconographic analysis are exposed. Then the elements of an iconic representation, themes and types, and narratives representations are explained trough the analysis of several examples.
Course objective :  The objective is to bring students to the mastering of principes and practice of iconographic analysis of a figurative representation as well as familiarise him with principal themes of antique and christian art.

Assessment :  written examination consisting of three parts:

1. theory

2. identification of elements or themes

3. analytical description of artworks
