Course contents :  Build your future, instead of enduring it...

The aim of this course is to help students develop their new business project. It covers the key dimensions of success as well as the most important pitfalls. The course analyzes the idea generation, product/service creation, business development and market introduction phases. Special attention is devoted to the use of internet-based technologies to foster project development and market adoption.

The final outcome is a fully operational business plan for a new entrepreneurial project (partnership, alliance, acquisition and/or creation).
Course objective :  The course covers the following topics:

- Environment: recent evolution of the world in its macroeconomic, geopolitical, social and technological dimensions.

- Businesses: what is a business from an entrepreneurial standpoint? how to measure its performance, its growth, its economic value added?

- New ideas: generation and evaluation. Identification of new business opportunities; use of available information sources on the internet?

- Evaluation: market assessment in a "customer-centric" world. How to forecast market share, volume and cash flows?

- Financing: main sources of financing, when and how to attract new investors or float a company on the stock market (IPO)?

- Valuation: available options (partnership, alliance, investment, acquisition); benchmarking; when and how to sell?

- Success: what are the key driving forces behind a successful entrepreneur; why and how to share performance; why and when to retire and go... fishing?

Workshops :  The final outcome of this course is a fully operational business plan for a new entrepreneurial project (partnership, alliance, acquisition and/or creation).
Organization :  - Lectures covering the key concepts, tools and models

- Usable information, intelligence and decision support systems

- Internet-Based Case Analysis: real-time analysis, tracking and control of new businesses
Written notes :  Reading list: articles and chapters. Reference internet sites.
Assessment :  - Class participation and personal involvment in the Internet-Based Case Analyses

- Quality of the creation, acquisition or investment project
