Course contents :  
  • Roles of a machine: transmission of mouvements, forces and torques, energy
  • Characteristics of the industrial products, technical specifications
  • Principles of technical drawing
  • Materials in mechanical construction
  • Assemblies with welded joints and with screws, fasteners and connections
  • Guiding in rotation
  • Guiding in translation
  • Mechanical transmission: belts, chains, gearing, clutches, couplings
  • Hydrostatic transmission
Course objective :  After completing the course the student is expected to

  • use the appropriate technical vocabulary
  • be familiar with technical drawings
  • know the characteristics of the main machines elements
  • be able to calculate the main machines elements
Prerequisites :  -- LT201 - Strength of materials and elasticity
-- ME207 - Kinematics and dynamics of machines
