Course contents :  Introduction, evaluation of groundwater quality, monitoring network for the background groundwater quality and for drinking water standards, solute transport in unsaturated/saturated zones of the underground, main principles underlying the protection zones, intrinsic vulnerability assessment and mapping for the groundwater resources in general or for pumping wells and springs, hydrogeological mapping, natural attenuation and optimized techniques for groundwater remediation, study cases.
Invited speakers from research institutions and expertise companies.
Course objective :  Deep understanding and knowledge in the general topic of groundwater quality and protection.
Skill development in the use of techniques for vulnerability mapping, contaminant transport modelling and optimisation of remediation schema.
Prerequisites :  It is better if the student has already followed advanced courses about hydrogeology.
Workshops :  Practical works are organised on the basis of real case-studies.
