Course contents :  (1) carbonate diagenesis (mineralogy and petrology of carbonate minerals, diagenetic sequences). Methods include petrography, cathodoluminescence, isotopic geochemistry.



(2) Sedimentary basin analysis (sequential analyses, sedimentary models).
Course objective :  (1) Recognition and interpretation of a diagenetic sequence. Use of cathodoluminescence and isotopic geochemistry.

(2) Interpretation of a sedimentary bassin, specially in terms of sea-level variations.
Prerequisites :  Sedimentary petrology.
Workshops :  Study of thin sections of carbonate rocks.
Organization :  Lectures and practical work in B18/B20.
