Course contents :  The lecture of geological mapping provides an introduction to the history of geological mapping in Belgium as well as an overview of basics in geological mapping.

Numerous exercises of mapping and drawing of geological profiles are carried out to improve the understanding of the spatial relationship between geological layers.

The fieldwork (partly guided) will focus on the making of a geological map in the Condroz, on detailed layer mapping as well as on structural geology.

The geological map has to be prepared with GIS tools and produced in digital format.
Course objective :  Introduction to geological mapping, learning of numerous mapping techniques and working in the field.
Prerequisites :  néant
Workshops :  Indoor practical work on maps and fieldtrips.

The students will also be formed in mapping with GIS tools.
Organization :  6-7 lectures (4 h each) are given in the classroom.

5-6 days are spent in the field - transport is by car.
