Course contents :  An introduction to paleontology.
Course objective :  the class will cover topics related to fossilization and application of fossils to diverse geological/paleobiological problems.

-fossils as witnesses of evolution and paleogeography in the phanerozoic

-origin and evolution of life in the precambrian

-fossils witnesses of crises

-fossils as tools in petroleum industry
Prerequisites :  general geology
Workshops :  -laboratory sessions illustrating the topics studied in class (observations of microfossils, fossil plants and invertebrates; visit of palynology and thin section laboratories)
