| Duration : | 15h Th, 15h Pr |
| Credits/ECTS : |
| Holder(s) : | Nathalie Fagel |
| Language : | French language |
| Course contents : | The course is organised in 7 sections
- 1. Introduction
- 2. Climate system
- 3. Dating methods
- 4. Climate archives
- 5. Climate changes: (a) since the Earth's formation, (b) the Quaternary
- 6. Factors of climate changes
- 7. Climate predictions
| Course objective : | The aims are:
- to explain rthe paleoclimate approach. What are the available geological tools or archive? What are the most appropriate dating methods? How accurate are the proposed climate reconstructions?
- To illustrate the natural climate variability over different timescales, since the Earth's formation until the recent climate changes
- to identify the driving factors of climate changes. The influence of human activities will be also discussed through IPCC (Intergovernment Panel for Cimate Change) predictions for the next century climate.
