Course contents :  The course relates to the tools and the practices of the regional planning in Wallonia and Belgium. It is structured on the basis of differentiation between the three great levels of intervention:
- the strategic planning, which works out and formats the policy guidelines as regards territory;
- the regulation, which defines the rights of the land via the plans;
- the installation and the operational planning, which gather the tools of the action of concrete field action.
Course objective :  - To confront the future geographers with the major problems of the urban and rural development and to give them the methods to solve these problems.
- To prepare an applied research in the urban or rural field.
Prerequisites :  An opening to the economic and social problems and a knowledge of territorial realities in Wallonia and Belgium.
Workshops :  A collective research is proposed to the students. This one relates to an urban or rural problem. It takes seat after the theoretical course.
Written notes :  An original syllabus of a hundred pages accompanied by cartographic and photographic illustrations.
Assessment :  The evaluation is based on the results of research (50%) and on an oral examination (50%)
