Course contents :  Inventory of the various fields in sociology, where an analysis in terms of social gender relationships has gradually progressed

Becoming familiar with the idea of gender, based on concrete examples: gender stereotypes, sexual inequalities, mechanisms of hierarchization of the masculine and feminine

Study of the contributions of the gender approach in the sociological analysis of social phenomena: presentation of the necessity for opening up questions and disciplines, mobilizing new concepts and dimensions, such as that of time... Examination of methodological requirements owing to the new status of the variable, 'sex'.

Examples of concrete questions to be taken up:
- sexualized socialization over the course of a life's trajectory
- relation between "professional" and "private" life
- implications of developments in social gender relations in the private and in the public sphere (in terms of individual autonomy, re/production of violence and de facto inequalities, values, attitudes, relations to norms, also as regards social, family and workplace policy...)
Course objective :  Objective: advanced sensitivization with regard to social and sexual relationships at work in society. Relations between theory, realities on the ground, and associative and political practices related to these questions.
Prerequisites :  Prerequisites: none, other than curiosity about this subject, although participation in introductory classes concerning the idea of gender constitutes an advantage. Regular attendance at seminar sessions is required. Participation in the 0001 gender course remains an advantage.
Workshops :  Students will conduct personal research in the beginning of the class into scientific texts, newspaper articles, and actual occurrences. An individual paper will be written by each student and each student will make an oral presentation to the group. Students will be invited to participate in external activities (meetings, conferences) related to the seminar's theme, and to meet with actors and researchers in the field.
Organization :  Organization: 30 hours in class over the course of the second semester.

Written notes :  A document file for the course will be put together as the course progresses.
Assessment :  Individual oral examination or examination in a group.
