Course contents :  Introduction to rock mechanics and to buildin on and in rock masses
Course objective :  Basic principles, determining the mechanical properties of rock masses, experimental investigations, constitutive models, stability of underground opening, design procedures, tunneling methodology, rock slope stability, rock foundation engineering, etc.
Prerequisites :  Solid mechanics, basic geotechnics
Workshops :  analytical computation of tunnel convergence and support loading (Excel file to be developped), wedge stability, letrature review, report writting, synthesis oral presentation
Organization :  2nd semestre course, on wednesday morning and thursday morning during six first weeks, on on tuesday for week 11 & 12.
Written notes :  notes are avalaibe
Assessment :  based on report and on oral exam
