Course contents :  - Fortest geography of Belgium
- The Belgian forest (species, stands, ...)
- Forest species description and characteristics : botanical and dendrological characters, dispersal, synecology, autecology, regeneration, growth and production, wood and uses; dangers and pests; silviculture
- monograph of forest species;
- Field visits
Course objective :  Identification and study of leaf and softwood trees from temperate countries.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- recognise all ligneous native species of Belgium (production or understory species) and the main exotic production species;
- monograph of forest species;
- identify the main characteristics of the ligneous species (dendrology, autecology, growth and yield, wood characteristics) and their relations with the site and the silviculture.
