| Course contents : | This course tackles various educational issues that brought up daily in teaching French as a foreign or second language, for example:
- the first lesson,
- the variety of pedagogical processes, aids, and tools (videos, documents, etc.),
- assessment of the levels and the needs of the learners,
- the practice of immersion and communicative methods,
- direction of oral expression activities,
- initiation to the intercultural,
- planning sequences and lessons,
- critical use of manuals/handbooks
- using multimedia materials,
- dealing with mistakes,
- and so on

| Course objective : | Allowing the participants, who are introduced to this form of instruction (in particular during training periods) or who would like to improve, to contemplate constructively and coherently the various elements and activities of French as a foreign or a second language courses, and to acquire practical skills in these many fields. |

| Prerequisites : | Some knowledge and/or experience in linguistics and/or teaching. |
 |
| Workshops : | This course is given in the form of a seminar in which the students are expected to participate actively. Practical exercises and case studies are frequently used, and outside specialists are often invited to speak. |
 |
| Organization : | Second semestre, Tuesday, from 01:00 pm to 03:00 pm, room to be announced |
 |
| Written notes : | Various bibliographic documents and references are communicated to the participants throughout the course. |
 |
| Assessment : | Individual project in the form of a portfolio comprising critical reports of discussions, work, conferences, readings, experiences, and so on.
