Course contents :  This course is a first introduction to genetic epidemiology. In order to illustrate the different aspects of genetic epidemiology, the course will include :
1. introduction in genetics, 2. different phases in genetic epidemiology, 3. linkage analysis, 4. population genetics, 5. small-scale genetic association studies, 6. genome wide genetics association studies. Several study designs and their impact on analysis will be discussed.
Course objective :  To familiarise students with the different facets of genetic epidemiology, with an emphasis on statistical genetics.
Prerequisites :  Basic knowledge of statistical concepts. Genetic terms will be re-introduced.
Workshops :  Personal work through tasks set during lectures, homework and larger projects, with the help primarily of Bioconductor tools using the 'R' open source software.

Organization :  2nd semester.

The course will be interactive in English/French. All course notes are in English. Homeworks can be handed in in French. Examination will be in French.

Written notes :  English-language slides.
Assessment :  Practical work, a written project-based exam, with oral presentation (part of the exam).
