Course contents :  Partim Physical chemistry
- essential characteristics of physical chemistry
- the most widely used analytic techniques
Partim Microbiology
- Introduction to the microbiology of the environment (importance of microbiology, characterization of viruses, bacteria and protozoans, algaes, growth and metabolism)
- Microbial ecology of aquatic environments
- Techniques for sampling and microbiological analysis of water: virology, bacteriology, parasitology
- Aspects of expertise in the area of the microbiology of water
- Applications in developing countries (PEDs)
- Practical work in the field and in the laboratory
Course objective :  - to become aware of the importance of physico-chemical and microbiological aspects of water

- to build expertise and establish a microbiological diagnosis of water quality.
Prerequisites :  - Knowledge of basic biology
- Basic understanding of chemistry and biochemistry
Workshops :  Microbiology section
- Field work: taking samples
- Seeding and identification of the main bacteria of faecal contamination
- Drafting a report
