| Course contents : | This course introduces to sustaibale development in four stages : 1. the concept of development and the way to sustainable development 2. three dilemmas of sustainability : - the three pillars - a question of time - uncertainty and décision 3. Case studies : - climate change - modes of production and consumption 4. A methodology towards sustainability : social learning. |

| Course objective : | Toi understand th concept of sustainability, its ambiguities, its dilemmas and to explore an intervention method towards sustainable development. |

| Workshops : | Three half days of worshop. |

| Organization : | This course is a three days module that will consist of - three detailed lectures - small groups discussion on the basis of documlents from science, media and other sources. |

| Written notes : | Four files of documentation will be available. |
 |
| Assessment : | Each student will write a personal essy on one specific topic of sustainable development. |
